Unlike last year, PPS celebrated the English and HEKASI Week in unison with the United Nations celebrations.

Throughout October 24-28, 2011, the theme for this year’s English and Hekasi Week was “It’s a Small World, After All!” For one week, the students watched various films, participated in poster-making, poem-writing and essay-writing contests. The final performances on October 28 consisted of various singing, dancing, interpretative dances, movie excerpts, skits, plays and even speech chorale performances by the students.

World Teachers’ Day was celebrated last Wednesday, October 5 at the town Municipal Covered Court. The program first started with a parade around the town proper, then the ceremony was held at the court. The first half of the program consisted of special numbers by teachers of the different schools of El Nido, public and private. The theme was “My Teacher, My Hero.”

Students also participated in the contests.

Two students, Dave D. Didal (fourth year high school) won first place in the Essay Writing Contest and Jovet C. Rosento (second year high school) won first place in the Painting Contest.
